What You Can Expect from Remote One Assist as Your Registered BAS Agent:

As your trusted bookkeeper and BAS agent, transparency, integrity, and trust are at the core of what we do at Remote One Assist.

To support this, we comply with the guidelines from the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), including their key requirement: keeping you, our client, fully informed throughout our engagement.

Here’s what that means for you—and what you can always expect from us.

✅ What the TPB Requires

The TPB outlines that all registered tax practitioners (including BAS agents like us) must keep clients informed of key information related to the services we provide. This isn’t just good business practice—it’s a legal and ethical obligation.

Here’s a summary of the key points we’re required to communicate with you:

1. Clear Scope of Services

Before we start working together, we’ll make sure you understand:

  • What services we’re providing (e.g. BAS lodgement, payroll processing, bank reconciliations)
  • Any limitations to the services (e.g. we don’t provide tax agent services or legal advice)
  • What you’re responsible for (such as providing timely and accurate information)

This ensures there’s no confusion and that our working relationship is built on mutual understanding.

2. Your Obligations as a Client

While we take care of your books and BAS obligations, we’ll remind you that:

  • You are responsible for providing accurate and complete records
  • You must meet lodgement and payment deadlines
  • You should  disclose any relevant changes in your business circumstances

We’ll keep you updated on what’s needed and when, to help you stay compliant and stress-free.

3. Our Professional Obligations

As a registered BAS agent with the TPB, we must:

  • Act lawfully and  in your best interest
  • Maintain  professional indemnity insurance
  • Follow the TPB’s Code of Professional Conduct
  • Keep your personal and financial data confidential and secure

We’ll also let you know if we need to refer you to another professional (e.g. a tax agent or accountant) for matters outside our scope.

4. Estimated Fees and Engagement Terms

We’ll be transparent about:

  • How much our services cost (fixed fee or hourly rate)
  • What’s included in your package
  • Our invoicing and payment terms
  • Any changes in pricing (with reasonable notice)

There are no hidden costs or surprises—just honest, up-front communication.

5. Record-Keeping and Your Right to Access Information

You’ll be informed about how we handle your records and how long we’ll keep them. You can also request access to your data at any time, in line with TPB and privacy requirements.

6. Communication and Support

We pride ourselves on clear, friendly and timely communication. Whether you have a question about your BAS, payroll, or Xero reports, we’re here to help and explain things in plain English.
